LORDI: Spanish Dates Cancelled
October 17, 2006According to Oikotimes.com, Finnish Eurovision Song Contest winners LORDI were forced to cancel the Spanish leg of their Bringing Back The Balls To Europe tour after some of the members of the band and the crew were taken ill. The tour will resume on October 22 in Antwerp, Belgium.
Commented the band's mainman, Mr. Lordi: "We are really sorry and disappointed of the fact that we had to cancel dates, but there has been a furious flu going around the band and the crew for few weeks, that hasn't left almost anyone unaffected. Our support band, THE DOGMA, already had to cancel one date as a result of the same flu, and now, unfortunately, we had to do the same. Kita was really sick but is already getting better, Amen is just now coming down with it, Ox even had the ear infection, and now, Awa and myself became seriously sick. I went to the hospital once already almost two weeks ago during our German dates and we were able to continue, but now the disease stroke back even stronger.
"We deeply apologize to our fans in Spain, and we'll definately try and make it up to them!"
LORDI's "The Arockalypse" album was recently certified gold in Sweden for sales in excess of 30,000 copies. The CD topped the album charts and stayed in the Top Ten for several weeks. In addition, the "Hard Rock Hallelujah" reached position No. 9 on the Swedish single chart and stayed in the Top 60 for almost four months. "Hard Rock Hallelujah" was also certified gold in Germany, where it was in the Top 10 for seven weeks, having peaked at position No. 5. So far, the single has sold an impressive 150,000 copies in Germany, where it can still be found in the Top 100.
